7 Digits and Marcel Marceu

10 Feb , 2015

HALT, FOR THOSE WHO GET OFFENDED WITH SEVEN DIGIT BILLS, READ NO FURTHER…want to go to Paris? Too far? Well next best is Le Bouchon.

I don’t think it could be more French even if Marcel Marceu was doing his thing in the corner. Ordered a kilo of mussels, done two styles, with cream, and with white wine/onion, served with bread and chips (pommes frittes?). A kilo doesn’t sound much, but looked huge, boosted by large mussel meat, which I later discovered was from Chile. Both were super, though the cream option was mine and my eating partners pick.

We should of left it at there, my eating partner ordered a trio of fish, visually spectacular, in the mouth, mehh. I have to admit the mussels probably spoiled the second dish, as I was already at the stage of loosening the belt, also, breaking all the rules, the bottle of South African Shiraz (I know, white with seafood, red with red meat, but stuff it) might of numbed my taste buds at this stage. All up, a cringeworthy 1.6m VND. I know, I know, you can eat for a lot less in Saigon… But if you factor in the price of an air ticket to Paris, then it was an absolute bargain!
