Andreas with his Sausages-min

Restaurant Review

How far would you go for a sausage?

24 May , 2015

I heard a whisper recently about a BBQ place in Binh Chanh, and I have to say, I was intrigued…what is European food doing in the wilds of Binh Chanh?

After a lengthy trip, 20minutes from Q7, delayed further by a stop from a friendly local policeman – who I think wanted to congratulate me on my safe driving – I had made it…and frankly, I think I deserve a medal. The street numbers alone are like a lottery call rather than a logical order.

This was the street address opposite the BBQ, which can be seen from a motorbike!

The street number for the BBQ could not be seen when riding on the motorbike, but I made it anyway, and found a variety of sausages cooking away alongside some smoked chicken wings. The owner, Andreas, told me he had no fish today, but that is part of normal selection.

I went for beef and a pork sausage, served with a little roll, and a smoked wing. Food is takeaway only, though there are plenty of little cafes who wouldn’t mind you eating there as long as you ordered a drink.

It was worth the trip for me, now I know where it is, but probably not for most. Andreas tells me that they are at the Saigon Outcast market (monthly?), and I am sure he will appear at other markets / one off events. Cost was 95k…lastly, not sure if the place has a name, could be Xuc Xic Duc, but can I suggest “Andrea’s House of Sausage”?.

Happy eating.
