I eat therefore I am. The common urge that unites as all.

For anyone that has stumbled across this site, there is an excellent chance that you have moved past the eating to sustain level, and moved on to the eating to enjoy stage of life.

For me, the eating life in Saigon is difficult to beat. Vietnamese food is a true world beater in the global culinary league table. A few certain steps need to be taken to get over tender western sensibilities, don’t smell the shrimp paste, close your eyes when putting the duck blood in your mouth. An open mind, and better yet, a friendly Vietnamese person to translate and take to you the best places, and you will eat like royalty.

 

When you get sick of eating Vietnamese food (is that possible?), I live in place where if I felt like it I could satisfy (nearly) any global craving I felt like , I could eat in a Czech restaurant, Cuban, Laotian. Though I came from the culinary backwater (this is a joke) of Australia, I still feel that Saigon offers more flags that I could tick off, saying I have eaten food from that country than in Australia’s culinary capital of Melbourne. 

The goal of this website is to uncover, or at least alert people to what is in our backyard. Together with a team of bloggers, I will introduce you to what excites me, and to what is making me fatter. I encourage you all, to get out explore, try something new and share it with us!
